The Porsche 911 series is divided into Carrera series, Targa series, turbo series, GT3 and GT2. The Carrera series includes Carrera, Carrera s, Carrera 4 and Carrera 4S, where s represents sports and 4 represents four-wheel drive. The Carrera series is the most basic model and the soul of the 911 series. The 911 carera and 911 Carrera 4 of the 996 series first appeared in 1995. In 1997, 911 Carrera s and 911 Carrera 4S were added respectively. The 996 series Porsche 911 Carrera series all use 3.6L horizontal opposed engines. The 997 series Carrera and Carrera s were launched in 2004 with 3.6L and 3.8L horizontal opposed engines respectively.
The first Porsche 911 Targa was first exhibited at the 1965 Frankfurt Motor Show, while it was introduced to the North American market in 1967. The dual turbocharged engine of 996 series 911 Turbo is changed to water-cooled 24 valve engine, with maximum power of 309kw and torque of 500nm. It is completely different from the 3.4L water-cooled engine of the ordinary 911 Carrera series. First, the engine adopts dual turbocharging, and second, the structure of the engine is different. It has no oil pan and the crankcase is evenly divided into left and right halves. Porsche also adopts variable phase angle intake camshaft and intake valve opening amplitude adjustment technology for the first time, so that it can produce strong power at low speed.
